From Biotechnology to the Future of Medical Affairs
Not a résumé — a trajectory. This is how a scientific foundation in Biotechnology became a career built around Medical Affairs, Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.
I didn't set out to work in Medical Affairs. I set out to understand how science actually reaches the people who need it — and that question kept pulling me forward, one step at a time, from a lab bench to a scientific exchange with a physician, and now toward a conversation about what AI can responsibly do for that exchange.
Biotechnology — the foundation
My scientific training in Biotechnology gave me the habit that still defines how I work: start from evidence, question the claim, verify before you communicate. That habit doesn't change when the tools do.
Pharma — learning the industry
Roles across AMGEN, PiLeJe, ESTEVE, Fresenius Kabi and Sanofi exposed me to different therapeutic areas, different organisational cultures and, increasingly, to the same core tension: how do you keep scientific engagement genuinely useful to healthcare professionals as the channels multiply?
Training — learning to explain, not just to know
Teaching — including sessions touching Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Telemedicine and Healthcare Innovation — taught me that expertise only creates value once it can be transferred. That's still the job of a Medical Science Liaison: translate evidence into something a clinician can use in the next five minutes of their day.
Digital — new channels, same discipline
As engagement moved online, I started paying attention to what "digital" actually changes in Medical Affairs — and what it doesn't. Omnichannel isn't a new discipline; it's the old discipline of scientific engagement, extended to more surfaces, with more discipline required to keep it rigorous.
Medical Affairs — where it all converges
Today, as a Medical Science Liaison in Vaccines, Medical Affairs is where the science, the stakeholder relationship and the strategy meet. It's also where I think the most interesting near-term change is happening — not despite AI, but because of how deliberately it needs to be introduced.
Artificial Intelligence — augment, don't replace
I explore AI in Medical Affairs from a practitioner's seat, not a vendor's. The question I keep asking is narrow and practical: does this tool make scientific judgement better, faster or more available — without compromising it? If not, it doesn't belong in the workflow yet.
